Recover, Recycle, Re-use
Used plastic items can be recycled time and time again.
LINPAC Packaging has done much to close the recycling loop by initiating programmes to recover used plastic items for re-processing into new end uses. Indeed our Recycling business is the largest recycler of rigid plastic in the UK. It recycles items as diverse as bottles, polystyrene vending cups, crates, pails, drums and pipes, processing over 20,000 tonnes of recycled material every year.
The carefully graded recycled polymers are then supplied to hundreds of plastics processors including other LINPAC companies for processing into a range of products. For example, a sister company, LINPAC Environmental, manufactures a range of waste management containers, compost bins, kerbside collection boxes and wheeled refuse bins, made from recycled plastic bottles sent for recycling by the public.
This closing of the recycling loop by finding new uses for recycled material is essential if the process of high value material recovery is to be sustained.
